New work- The Great Escape series-Launching Thursday 15th October

This last month has been a creative one with some wonderful pockets of time spent in my studio. I have been working on another series of Great Escape sculptures, which I have now completed.

Each sculpture is bespoke and hand made from reclaimed timbers that were once part of an old bungalow or villa in Auckland. Each rock is carefully sourced, which then determines the shape of the house and the angle that the house will sit on.

The Great Escape Series

I have a long-standing fascination with the ways people inhabit different environments around the world, particularly dwellings located in remote landscapes, houses embedded within forests or precariously anchored to cliff faces, where architecture exists in close relationship with its surroundings.

The Great Escape series is inspired by these forms of remote living and presents a nostalgic or imagined lifestyle for the viewer. For some, these environments represent a distant aspiration; for others, they evoke a deep sense of familiarity and belonging.

My latest collection of Great Escape sculptures is launching on Thursday, 15th October, at 6 PM.

Seven unique sculptures will be available in three different sizes, ready to find their forever homes.

I can’t wait to share this new collection with you.
