The Kaipara Coast Sculpture gardens

The Kaipara Coast Sculpture gardens

On Saturday, I visited the Kaipara Coast Sculpture Trail, and it did not disappoint. We went on a sunny morning, which was perfect for walking around and taking in the art, but honestly it would be lovely even in the rain.

I’ve actually been part of the exhibition myself for the past six years or so, so it was really special to see my sculpture, Out The Gate, alongside the work of so many talented artists.

There are over 30 sculptures on display until November this year, so there’s still plenty of time to check it out if you’re thinking about going. The trail is about 1.5 kilometres long and winds through beautiful, established gardens.

There’s also a plant store with a great selection, especially native trees and fruit trees. The trail is very family friendly too, with lots of fun things for kids to interact with along the way.

I had my 8 month old in the front pack, and she loved it, especially looking up at the trees and plants as we walked.

Most of the sculptures are available for purchase, with a wide range of sizes on offer, some quite compact while others stand over three or four metres tall.

If you’re thinking of heading along to the exhibition, it's open from 9 to 5, 7 days a week.
