Morning Break

Inspired by the symmetry of shapes, this work explores repetition, balance, and order, creating a quiet harmony within its form.

Crafted entirely from salvaged weatherboards and floorboards reclaimed from villas and bungalows across Auckland City, the piece carries the subtle traces of its past life, blending history with geometry.

The bright turquoise paint, entirely original, creates a strong contrast against the natural timber and white surfaces. I am always intrigued by the stories behind these brightly coloured weatherboards, and the work reflects a dialogue between material, colour, and history.
