The Little Yellow House With The Wooden Door

Each scultpure is bespoke and hand made from reclaimed timbers from villas and bungalows around auckland. Each rock is carefully sourced and selected. The rock then determines the shape and angle that the house will sit on. No two pieces are the same.

I have a long-standing fascination with the ways people inhabit different environments around the world, particularly dwellings located in remote landscapes, houses embedded within forests or precariously anchored to cliff faces, where architecture exists in close relationship with its surroundings.

The Great Escape series is inspired by these forms of remote living and presents a nostalgic or imagined lifestyle for the viewer. For some, these environments represent a distant aspiration; for others, they evoke a deep sense of familiarity and belonging.

Made from salvaged timbers, recycled aluminum and locally sourced rocks.
