This piece titled 'Tracks' is part of the Structura collection, Sophie’s second solo exhibition, which was presented at The Art Haus Contemporary Gallery in 2024. For this series, Sophie draws inspiration from architectural floor plans and the way their simple lines and angles evolve into three-dimensional forms—often becoming architectural works of significance in their own right.

No two works in the Structura series are alike. Each piece is constructed from unique materials, many of which are over 100 years old, lending a distinct history and character to every work. A key influence on the series is one of Sophie’s favourite artists, Piet Mondrian. Mondrian’s transitional works increasingly allowed colour and form to operate independently, a principle that strongly resonates with Sophie’s own practice.

An important aspect of Sophie’s work is the careful sourcing of materials and the considered use of colour. She selects timber from suppliers who ensure the wood retains its original condition and natural colour palette.
